| วิธีการพิจารณาเลือกต้นไม้ใหญ่ |

| 1 คุณ ต้องคิดถึงจุดประสงค์ของคุณ และประโยชน์ที่คุณจะได้รับจากต้นไม้ที่คุณต้องการปลูก เช่นคุณต้องการได้ร่มเงาบังแดดและความร้อนคุณไม่จำเป็นที่จะต้องเลือกต้นไม้ ขนาดใหญ่เกินไป เพราะกลัวไม่ทันใจ บางทีต้นไม้ที่มีขนาดใหญ่มากๆ บางชนิดการปรับตัวและการเจริญเติบโตไม่เท่ากับต้นไม้ขนาดเล็กกว่าบางชนิด ที่เป็นไม้โตเร็ว

2.2 ขุดหลุมตามตำแหน่งที่เลือกไว้ ความกว้างของหลุมดูตามขนาดตุ้มดินของต้นไม้ที่นำมาปลูกความลึกก็พิจารณาแบบ เดียวกันคือโคนต้นไม้อยู่ระดับเดียวกับพื้นดินพรวนดินก้นหลุม ปล่อยน้ำใส่หลุม ดูการซับน้ำของดินว่า ดินมีการระบายน้ำดีหรือไม่ ถ้าน้ำขังนานกว่าจะลด แสดงว่าการระบายน้ำของดินไม่ค่อยดี ต้องแก้ไขก่อน อาจต้องขุดหลุมกว้างขึ้น เปลี่ยนดินใหม่ส่วนหนึ่งที่พอจะทำให้ต้นไม้มีรากแข็งแรงระยะหนึ่งพอที่จะสู้ กับดินแข็งๆเหนียวๆรอบตัวได้ต่อไป ธรรมชาติมักปรับตัวเพื่อการอยู่รอดได้เสมอ ถ้าดินไม่ขี้เหร่เกินไป 2.3 ใส่ปุ๋ยคอกก้นหลุม ใส่ดินผสมสำเร็จทับปุ๋ยคอกหนึ่งชั้น นำต้นไม้วางลงใส่ดินผสมสำเร็จในหลุม เหลือต่ำกว่าปากหลุมไว้หน่อยหนึ่งเพื่อใส่ดินเดิมที่ขุดขึ้นมาทับปากหลุม แล้วเหยียบให้แน่น พอควร คำว่าพอควรคือไม่ต้องแน่นมาก เดี๋ยวเล่นซะแน่นเปรี๊ยะ ต้นไม้กระดุกกระดิกไม่ได้หายใจไม่ออก ตายดีกว่า หมาย เหตุ ในกรณีที่เป็นที่ลุ่มหรือน้ำใต้ดินมาก คือขุดลงไปเจอน้ำอยู่ในหลุมเต็ม หรือปลูกช่วงหน้าฝน น้ำมักขังในหลุมที่ปลูก และต้นไม้ที่นำมาปลูกระบบรากไม่ทนต่อน้ำท่วมขัง ควรปลูกโดยวิธีพูนโคน คือขุดลงไปไม่ลึก ให้ส่วนโคนของต้นไม้อยู่เหนือระดับพื้นดินและนำดินอื่นมาถมโคน |

| 3 เมื่อขั้นตอนการปลูกต่างๆเสร็จสิ้น ก็มาถึงการค้ำยัน ซึ่งจำเป็นอย่างยิ่งกับการปลูกไม้ใหญ่ เพื่อยึดลำต้นไม่ให้โยก เป็นผลดีกับรากไม่ให้คลอนหรือกระเทือนจากแรงลม อย่าพยายามปลูกลึกเพื่อให้ต้นไม้ทรงตัวอยู่ได้ บางทีปลูกแล้วกลัวต้นไม้ล้มฝังต้นไม้ลงไปเกือบครึ่งต้นเพราะวิธีนี้ถ้า ต้นไม้ที่คุณปลูก เป็นต้นไม้ที่ปักชำได้หรือตอนกิ่งได้ ก็อาจไม่มีปัญหาอะไร เพราะลำต้นสามารถสร้างรากขึ้นมาได้ แต่ถ้าไปเจอไม้เนื้อแข็งตระกูลสูงขยายพันธุ์ยากบอกได้เลยว่าเสร็จ อีก อย่างการปลูกต้นไม้ลึกเกินไปคุณลองคิดดูคุณให้น้ำต้นไม้วันนี้ กว่าน้ำจะเดินทางไปถึง แวะที่ไหนบ้างกว่าจะถึงราก และรากก็ต้องการอากาศเหมือนกันอยู่ในหลุมลึกขนาดนั้นไม่ตายก็เลี้ยงไม่โต การค้ำยันก็ต้องให้แข็งแรงและอยู่ในระยะที่รากเจริญพอที่จะช่วยตัวเองได้ คือยึดดินและทรงตัวอยู่ได้เอง ใช้ไม้สนหรือไม้ยูคาก็ได้ ค้ำสาม หรือค้ำสี่ก็แล้วแต่เห็นอย่างไหนสวยก็เอาอย่างนั้น ตัวอย่างการค้ำยัน ต้นไม้ข้างทาง กทม ปลูกใหม่ มีให้เห็นอยู่ | ||||
